The Project

The Tanglewood homeowners had been accumulating a renovation list for years. Their 1960s ranch had solid bones but a kitchen that hadn't been touched since the Reagan administration, a primary bedroom with a closet better suited for a studio apartment, and a layout that didn't take advantage of the rear yard views.

We combined the additions and the renovation into a single coordinated project: a kitchen addition that opened the rear of the home toward the yard, a primary suite expansion with proper closet space and a new bath, and a full interior remodel that updated finishes and opened the main living area.

Doing everything at once meant a longer project — eight months of construction — but significantly less disruption than if the homeowners had tried to phase it over years. And by designing the addition and the renovation together, we avoided the awkward transitions that happen when you bolt new work onto old finishes.
