The Project

The homeowners on Mockingbird had lived in the same house for 22 years and raised three kids in it. With the kids gone, they finally had the bandwidth to fix what had always bothered them: there was no real primary suite. The main-floor bedroom shared a hall bath, had a small closet, and felt like every other bedroom in the house.

We designed a first-floor addition off the back of the home — a primary suite with a walk-in closet, a double-vanity bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower, and a small sitting area for a reading nook they'd always wanted. The addition tied into the existing roofline and matched the brick and siding to the rest of the home.

The project took five months from design kickoff to final walkthrough. The homeowners said it was the best home investment they'd made in two decades of ownership.
