Multi-Room Addition in Fort Worth, TX
The Project
The 6th Ave house had three specific problems that had accumulated over 15 years of ownership. There was no primary suite — just a larger version of the other bedrooms. There was no mudroom, so the back door dumped directly into the kitchen. And the dining area was a defined zone carved out of the living room that felt like an afterthought.
Rather than tackle each problem separately — a project that would have stretched over years — the homeowners chose to address all three in one back-of-house addition. The addition added a primary suite wing off the master bedroom, a mudroom-and-laundry space at the back entry, and extended the rear of the house by 12 feet to create a separate dining room.
The exterior was designed to look like a cohesive addition — not three separate bump-outs stuck onto the back of the house. A new hip roof tied the whole addition together, and the brick and siding matched the original mid-century material palette.
